Certification Process

International Halal Center is an internationally accredited halal certification body. All the certification procedures starting from application until granting of certificate(s) follow specific rules laid out in internal certification system of IHC and are in line with international accreditation bodies requirements.

IHC certification process is carried out according to the following scheme*:

Application Submission
Companies wishing to obtain Halal certification will fill our application form and provide general information related to their activities by using the online form Filling in forms and submitting applications does not entail any financial obligations and does not oblige applicant to nothing.

Application Review
Competent IHC staff will conduct a review to ensure that applicants have provided sufficient information for certification and that basic requirements of Halal can be fulfilled. Furthermore, the means and competence as well as auditing time required for the certification process are defined at this stage.

Quotation
Based on the results of the application review IHC staff will send the applicant a certification proposal (quotation) and provide documents regarding the Halal services and fees involved. The certification fees will take among others the category, number of employees, complexity, product variety into consideration.

Certification & Confidentiality Agreement
When applicant is further interested to proceed with certification and upon acceptance of the certification quotation, IHC will provide the applicant with a certification agreement, a non-disclosure agreement and the terms for use of IHC logo. When both parties agree on certification terms, the applicant provides all necessary information and documents for evaluation and certification.

Document Review
IHC audit team reviews and evaluates production environment, ingredients, processing aids, cleaning procedures and production flowcharts for Halal compliance. During this step, the applicant might have to provide proofs of Halal conformity for individual ingredients such as Halal certificates, Halal statements etc.

On-Site Audit
Once documents are reviewed, auditors (usually one Shariah auditor and one technical auditor) will conduct a physical audit of the company. In advance, the contracting party will receive a detailed audit plant. During the audit the auditors will, among others, objectively determine the extent to which halal certification requirements are fulfilled.

Certification Decision Making
Once the halal audit is complete and all required documents have been submitted, a certification decision committee composed of IHC members will review the audit report provided by the auditors. Based on the report, a decision is taken by the decision committee members. When a decision is taken in favor of certification, halal certificate will be issued.

IHC Mark Granted
As a result of a successful certification, the customer is granted a halal certificate that enables him to enter the global halal market, and the customer will be entitled to use the IHC halal logo on his products which creates confidence among consumers around the world. The IHC brand is a globally registered Halal brand and enjoys a high level of trust and credibility among consumers.IHC Halal certificate validity period is for 1, 2 or 3 years depending on product category and target market.
